Brett W. Berry, CFA

Brett has 24 years of investment business experience. Before joining First Republic Investment Management, Brett was a Senior Vice President of U.S. Trust Company, where he actively managed portfolios, client relationships and assisted in the firm's business development efforts. Prior to his role at U.S. Trust, Brett was a Senior Vice President at Bailard, Biehl & Kaiser. Brett has also held analyst positions with Hughes Investment Management Company and Wilshire Associates. Brett received his B.A. at California State University, Long Beach and his MBA at University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Brett holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Society of San Francisco.

He has also taken extra-curricular course work in the field of Behavioral Finance. Community involvement includes volunteer work with the Mid-Peninsula Boys and Girls Clubs, the Sacred Heart Schools Atherton and Rebuilding Together Peninsula.

Douglas R. Clough, CFP

Doug joined First Republic Investment Management in 2006. Prior to joining the firm, Doug worked at Charles Schwab & Company for over 10 years. Doug was a Financial Consultant in Schwab’s Oakland office for four years, and prior to that he managed their retail leasing team as Director of Branch Real Estate. Before joining Schwab, Doug worked in the real estate industry for 12 years, performing construction lending, asset disposition, and investment real estate brokerage. Doug earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Brown University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a member of the San Francisco Financial Planning Association, and on the Board of Directors of Clausen House, an Oakland non-profit that serves the needs of developmentally-disabled adults.

Tom Egan

Tom joined First Republic Investment Management in 2004. He began his career in the investment advisory business in 1997 when he joined Bay Isle Financial Corporation as a portfolio manager. He had been a client of Bay Isle for 3 years, previous to making a career change and joining the firm. Tom spent the first 25 years of his professional life in the retail industry, and held multiple positions in the Merchandising and Product Development areas of the business. He worked for six different public companies during his retail career, Including Federated Department Stores, Associated Dry Goods, Carter Hawley Hale, Williams-Sonoma, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Phillips-Van Heusen. In his last position at PVH, he was Senior Vice President of Merchandising. He holds an MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, with an undergraduate degree in Accounting & Finance from Miami of Ohio.

Anne B. Golden, CFP

Anne joined First Republic Investment Management as Senior Managing Director in 2003. Prior to First Republic Investment Management, she was a Managing Director, Principal and Senior Portfolio Manager with Montgomery Asset Management from 1995 to 2003. From 1983 to 1995, Anne was a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Bailard Biehl and Kaiser, Inc. She was also a Portfolio Manager at Cole Financial Group from 1977 to 1983. Anne was also a Municipal Bond Analyst/Trader at L.F. Rothschild & Co., and a Stock/Bond Broker. Anne received her BA from the University of Colorado, is a Certified Financial Planner and has 30 years of investment experience.

Anne served as a member of the Charles Schwab Institutional Advisory Board from 2001 to 2003, was the 1998 President of the Financial Women's Association of San Francisco. Anne is a member of the Board of Regents of John F. Kennedy University where she served as the Chair of the Board from 1990-1998, as well as Chair of the Finance Committee from 2002-2006. She is also a supporter of Music in the Vineyards of Napa Valley, where she resides.

Marta Karolak

Prior to joining First Republic Investment Management, Marta was responsible for assisting the Portfolio Management team at Montgomery Asset Management. She is currently pursuing her CFP® designation. Marta holds a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley.

William King, CFA

Bill has 20 years experience in the investment business and is currently a Managing Director at First Republic Investment Management which he joined in 2003. For the previous eight years, he was a Portfolio Manager and Analyst at Montgomery Asset Management; and for five years at Highmark Capital Management owned by Bank of California. Bill's prior experience includes managing portfolios for institutional and private clients and managing mutual funds. His earlier work experience also includes working as a financial manager for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation. He holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is an active committee member with the San Francisco CFA Society. Bill graduated from the University of Oregon with an MBA Degree and from St. Mary's College with a Bachelors Degree in Economics.

Kristin Nicholson, CFA, CFP

Kristin has fifteen years of experience in the investment industry. She is currently a Managing Director at First Republic Investment Management, helping her clients with their investments as well as their wealth management planning needs. After receiving her MBA degree from U.C. Berkeley in 1993, Kristin spent three years in the Czech Republic and Poland. Her first assignment was part of the MBA Enterprise Corps, a non-profit organization providing management support to local firms in emerging markets. She then went on to work in the stock research department of the largest brokerage firm in the Czech Republic, ultimately heading the firm's research efforts in Poland. Upon returning to the United States in 1996, Kristin spent five years with a Marin-based investment firm, analyzing stocks and assisting in the investment management of the firm's client portfolios. In 2002, she joined Bay Isle Financial, which was later acquired by First Republic Bank. Kristin holds both a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Financial Planner designation and is a member of the San Francisco Analysts Society.

Libby Palomeque, CFP, CDFA, CGRS

Libby has 14 years experience in the investment business. Currently she is a Managing Director at First Republic Investment Management and previously, she was employed as a Portfolio Manager at Bay Isle Financial for twelve years. While Libby serves a diverse cross-section of clients, she has two areas of specialty: working with clients who wish to learn more about the investment arena, and working with clients who are in times of emotional transition. Libby is currently at work on her first book, an investment primer written for the newly bereaved. In addition to her Certified Financial Planner designation, Libby is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, and a Level Two Degriefing Practitioner.

Libby is a volunteer group leader for the Grief Recovery Institute, and a passionate advocate for Women for Women International, a charity that helps women in war-torn countries rebuild their lives. Libby is a member of the San Francisco Financial Planners Association, and the Institute for Certified Divorce Financial Analysts.

Randy J. Peterson, CFA

Randy Peterson joined First Republic Investment Management in 2006. Prior to that, he was with U.S. Trust Company from 1998 to 2006, where he served as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Senior Vice President. Randy worked in both the Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, California offices of U.S. Trust, managing over $650 million in multi asset class portfolios for wealthy families and institutions. Prior to U.S. Trust, Randy was an Investment Officer in the Investment Management Group at Wells Fargo in San Francisco. Randy received his BS in Business Administration from The University of Colorado, Boulder and his MBA in Finance from the University of Oregon. Randy holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Society of San Francisco.

Gary Pollock, CFP, Ph.D.

Gary joined First Republic Investment Management in 2004. Prior to this, Gary was the co-founder and President of Bay Isle Financial where he managed the operations and investment process for individual clients. Gary co-founded Bay Isle Financial in 1986 and built their assets under management to over $1 billion by 2000. Prior to co-founding Bay Isle, he developed his analytical skills through a doctorate in engineering followed by almost twenty years of financial, management, and planning experience at Chevron Corporation. Gary has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from McMaster University in Canada and is a Certified Financial Planner.

Gary has been a founding board member of the Presidio School of Management, and a past president of the San Rafael School Board in addition to being on the boards of several local arts groups. Gary enjoys handball, reading about chaos theory and math, wine tasting, and art.

Devon Porpora

Devon is a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at First Republic Investment Management. Devon graduated from Yale University with an economics degree and also studied at Beijing University in China. He started work in the investment banking field in Hong Kong, China. After China, Devon worked as a floor trader on the New York Stock Exchange. He joined First Republic Investment Management in 1999 where he began as the technology analyst before transitioning to a portfolio manager. Devon has been a guest on CNBC Europe and CNN Asia.

Devon helped found, and is current CEO of, HEAL in 2003. HEAL is a not-for-profit corporation which assists financially strained wounded soldiers returning from our current overseas conflicts. HEAL raised over $300,000 and helped over 100 wounded and decorated veterans and their families avoid foreclosure, eviction and asset seizure.
